What is Bodywork?

Bodywork is a broad term used to describe any therapeutic technique that involves working with the human body in a way that involves manipulative therapy, breath work, or energy medicine. In addition, “bodywork techniques” aim to assess or promote awareness of the “body-mind connection,” or to manipulate a person’s subtle energy systems. Bodywork can involve “no touch” as well as “hands-on” techniques.

Who Benefits from Bodywork?

If you are seeking to address specific issues , such as pain, flexibility, posture, low energy or vitality, bodywork is an excellent option. If you’re ready to release a physical injury, trauma or deep emotional pain… you’re likely looking for something more dynamic than a traditional massage… you’re looking for bodywork. If you’re someone who craves transformative, long-term change and you want to connect or reconnect with your body, your thoughts, your breath…then you’re likely seeking bodywork. Bodywork is dynamic and can facilitate lasting change. Your experience, and your results, depend on how you contribute to, interact with, and receive the bodywork.

Barefoot Massage Therapy (Ashiatsu)

This dynamic style of deep tissue massage is known for its focus one structural integration, improving mobility and relieving the stress, strain, pain, and discomforts associated with modern lifestyle choices. In a Barefoot session, the treatment is administered with your therapist's expertly trained feet, which are used to stretch and decompress your body.

Traditional Therapeutic Massage

A hands-on therapeutic massage session with me is an experienced derived from your expressed needs and my intuitive reading of how to best serve you. Your therapy may include an integration of various techniques: Postural Assessment, Injury Assessment, Stretching, Myofascial Techniques Trigger Point Therapy, Acupressure, Reflexology, Craneosacral Therapy, Pulse Balancing, Reiki, Aromatherapy, . . .

Modern Cupping Massage

Modern Cupping Therapy is a form of vacuum therapy wherein the practitioner utilizes various safe, therapeutic-grade cupping instruments to lift tissue with applied suction (aka negative pressure), offering the potential for relief from pain, inflammation, digestive challenges, circulation and stress relief. Note: Cupping massage may leave cupping marks.

Lymphatic Drain Cupping

Lymphatic Drain Cupping Therapy is a form of vacuum therapy wherein the practitioner utilizes various safe, therapeutic-grade cupping instruments to lift tissue with applied suction and move the cups in a systemic sequence that is designed to assist the lymphatic system in its efforts to flush toxins from the body. Note: Lymphatic Cupping does not leave cupping marks.

Tibetan Acupressure-Compassionate Touch (TACT)

TACT is a dynamic three-dimensional healing system that incites the body's natural self-healing abilities. The framework for the treatment is an energetic partnership between us. As I stimulate reflex points in your body (from the soles of your feet to the crown of your head) with a special twisting motion of my hands and fingers, while simultaneously engaging in a state of mindful meditation and compassionate breathing that radiates loving kindness, you sit comfortably, eyes closed, and allow yourself to be fully present in the moment. Distance Healing is an option for this form of energy healing.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) involves using gentle, fluid movements of the bones and tissues of the head, thorax, and hips to enhance the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. Imbalances are corrected in the central nervous system between the cranium and the sacrum, resetting the body’s natural healing potential, and encouraging the release of tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. It was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger after years of clinical testing and research at Michigan State University where he served as professor of biomechanics.

Using a soft touch which is generally no greater than 5 grams – about the weight of a nickel – practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system. CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and it’s effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.

Yoga Therapy

This sacred form of bodywork utilizes vital energy (life force), rhythmic compression with gentle rocking, deep therapeutic stretching, breath work, prayer and meditation. The pactitioner may use their hands, feet, knees, elbows and forearms, and operate in a state of mindful awareness. In addition to deeply relaxing, many people report feeling energetic and light after a session. This work relaxes tight muscles, improves posture and alignment, promotes circulation and restores harmony to mind, body, and spirit. All of the work is done on a mat on the floor.

Energy Medicine

Energy medicine utilizes techniques derived from ancient healing traditions. The flow, balance, and harmony of subtle energy systems that exist in and around the body are non-invasively restored and maintained by tapping, massaging, pinching, twisting, or connecting specific energy points (acupoints) on the skin; by tracing or swirling the hand over the skin along specific energy pathways; through exercises or postures designed for specific energetic effects; by focused use of the mind to move specific energies; and/or by surrounding an area with healing energies. Energy medicine is commonly used to treat illness and relieve pain; stop the onset of illness as soon as it begins, stimulate immune function, relieve headaches, release stress, improve memory, enhance digestion, relieve arthritis, neck, shoulder, and low back pain, and cope with electromagnetic pollution.

Distance Healing is an option for Reiki and Tibetan Acupressure. I have worked on people who live as far as India & Italy.

Ritual Bodywork

A Ritual is simply action with intention. Being mindful of what we do can make it a sacred activity. The Rituals that we practice in our lives can bring us true comfort and contentment. They can allow us to stay grounded, joyful, and peaceful. Allowing yourself a self-care Ritual in the fast paced world that we live in can be crucial to crafting a life that is happy and healthy in both body and mind.

Mungu Asili is a dynamic ritual healing therapy developed by Adriena Dame. Rooted in the power of spiritual channeling, vibrational energy, and therapeutic touch, this deeply relaxing and meditative experience grounds the body, elevates the mind, and encourages emotional release.

Reiki is a highly relaxing energy medicine of ancient origins that incites the body’s natural healing abilities and enhances one’s overall wellbeing. It is most concerned with the person, not merely the symptom, and can be effective for no matter what one’s circumstances. Reiki does not cure diseases; rather, it is a journey to emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual balance. Distance Healing is an option for this form of energy healing.
